Finding My Favourite Fragrance*

Finding My Favourite Fragrance*

As I sit here writing this, I’m surrounded by different perfumes that I have pinched from my mum’s gorgeous fragrance collection… For years I have been secretly (not so secretly now) spritzing myself with a different perfume from her collection, whether it was for a special occasion or just a trip to the local supermarket! I loved admiring the different bottles and packaging. As I’ve grown up, I’ve moved away from the classic “Charlie body spray/teenager scent” and tried to build up my own perfume collection, now that I have upped my skincare game! Along the way, I’ve found some beautiful fragrances (and plenty more unpleasant ones).

I thought I would share with you the perfumes that I adore and the fragrances I’d love to add to my collection, enjoy!

Current Fragrances

Hugo Boss the Scent for Her

Hugo Boss – The Scent for Her

This is the newest addition to my collection! It was introduced to me by one of my friends and I’m so glad that I purchased it for myself. It has a lovely sweet floral scent, a mixture of vanilla, freesia and cocoa – I use it religiously and have had so many compliments! It’s one of those perfumes that lasts all day, which is a rarity!

Zara Joyful Tuberose

Zara – Joyful Tuberose

I was given this eau de toilette as a leaving present from one of the girls I used to work with – as I originally admired it on the lovely Abi! I love the fruity tones of blackcurrant, grapefruit, tangerine and lemon – though to be honest if I hadn’t looked up the ingredients I would never have known that it contained all of these at all, as none of them are overpowering!

J'adore Dior

Dior – J’adore

I “borrowed” this one from my mum’s collection as I’ve adored it for a very long time! A classic fragrance that I tend to save for special occasions, it has beautiful floral tones, jasmine and rose essence. Definitely a firm favourite of mine!

Fragrances to Add to my Collection

Dior Poison Girl

Dior – Poison Girl

I received a small sample of this in a magazine and I’ve been dying to add it to my collection ever since!

L’Occitane – Terre de Lumiere

Another fragrance that I’d love, I mean how gorgeous is this bottle?!

Chanel No. 5

Chanel – No. 5

How could I not include this iconic fragrance?! A girl can dream, right?

Jo Malone

Jo Malone – English Pear and Freesia

This fragrance has been on my wishlist for what feels like forever! Maybe it’ll be the first thing I buy with my first paycheck?

p.s. what are your favourite fragrances?

I love this! Some lovely sounding fragrances here, it’s one thing that I am always on the search for. I think my favourite here would definitely be the Hugo Boss! I love the sound of that scent! At the moment I have been loving Rose Gold by Monsoon. It’s such a floral scent and reminds me of Summer.

Mmmm yeah I adore the Hugo Boss scent! Oh, I need to try that, it sounds great!

I had no idea Zara did perfumes! It sounds like something I’d really love as I love fruity scents, and I don’t like anything too overpowering. My favourite perfumes are Coco Mademoiselle and YSL Black Opium, definitely my top two! x

What a great collection! My fragrance collection is a lot cheaper haha But definitely have a few of these on my wish list! Great post! 👌 (Ps. I also used to steal my mum’s perfume every now and then 😉)

Thank you lovely! Haha yeah, I don’t understand why perfumes can be so expensive?! Glad I’m not the only one haha x

I also love the J’adore Dior! I recently was gifted the Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede fragrance for Christmas and I loveee it x

I’ve never tried out a Hugo Boss womens fragrance, my partner used to wear a Hugo Boss cologne and it was absolutely gorgeous! I don’t know why I’ve never thought to indulge in one from them myself. My favourite fragrance has to be Paco Robannes Olympea! It is quite pricey and pretty strong though so I’ll only wear it on special occasions 🙂 For a cheaper every day option I’m a huge fan of The Body Shops Eau De Toilettes, they have one called Sweetenia that is gorgeous!

Ohh I love the smell of Olympea! Yeah, it sucks that perfumes are so expensive – I’ll have to check The Body Shop ones out!xx

My sister loves the Hugo Boss one as well! Although I don’t really use perfumes, I love the sound of the Jo Malone one as I image the scent is really fresh 🙂 x

That Chanel one has my been on my wishlist for years! Such a classic fragrance everyone needs! I need to step up my perfume collection because I really only have samples right now.

    • everythingchessie February 1, 2018 / 7:56 pm

I know right?! Yes you do, as much as I love samples they never beat the real thing!

  10. Julia January 23, 2018 / 4:41 pm

My mum uses Chanel No. 5 and I absolutely adore this scent. It is just amazing. You’ve got such a great collection already! I’m so bad with perfume, I very often forget to put any on! And apparently my natural scent is like a newborn’s smell according to my boyfriend lol I think I need to buy myself a few new bottles to spritz on.

Thank you! Oh haha, not sure whether that is a compliment or not!xx

  11. Alicia January 24, 2018 / 8:48 am

I’ve not smelt any of these scents but the way you describe them, you’re making me want to smell them so badly! The sound of that Zara perfume sounds rights up my street, I need to find it. My favourite fragrance has to be roberto calvali (I don’t know if that’s how you spelt it tbh) but his fragrances are so beautiful and underrated xx

    • everythingchessie February 1, 2018 / 7:57 pm

Ohh I haven’t heard of his fragrances before – I’ll go check them out!xx
